Astrad, a professional "rat kid," finds out when the apocalypse cuts his internet connection and forces him out of his room. To his surprise, all those "wasted" hours on monster forums and wikis are now the only guide to not ending up as lunch for an abomination with way too many teeth.

Forced out of his cave, Astrad isn't looking to save humanity-only himself and his dog. However, fate and his own twisted pragmatism push him into leading a group of survivors as dysfunctional as he is. Armed with a pellet rifle, lethal sarcasm, and a journal full of monster weaknesses, he'll have to navigate an apocalypse where the greatest threat doesn't always come with claws and fangs-sometimes it hides in human stupidity.
