Complete, First published Nov 04, 2025
In 2025, five urban explorers venture deep into the forbidden ruins of Chernobyl's Exclusion Zone - chasing clicks, thrill, and the truth behind an old Soviet myth. What they uncover beneath the ashes isn't just radiation... it's something alive.
The deeper they go, the more reality bends. Time loops. Shadows whisper. Their cameras capture figures that shouldn't exist - echoes of the night the reactor exploded. And when they reach the sealed chamber known only as "The Fourth Core," they realize the meltdown never ended. It evolved.
Now, trapped in the ghostly remains of the most dangerous place on Earth, they must face the thing born from fire, fear, and memory itself - or become part of the haunting forever.

The Solace Chronicles by Cataclysm138

Not so long ago, humanity fought the gods above them. The war against the Ethereals was long and bloody, and only the discovery of magic saved humanity from total annihilation. With the fusion of magic and technology, they clawed their way to a stalemate; in time, the war was over. Humanity had secured their freedom...or so they thought. The Ethereal War changed life on Earth forever. The world is now plagued by glyphstorms-- constant, magic-infused dust storms that drive those who linger too long to insanity. Traveling within them is thought to be impossible, and the only shelter comes in the form of magical shield domes over humanity's cities. Progress is rapid, yet isolated to pockets of civilization. In the same world where some people thrive, many others struggle, their spirits kept alive only by the hope of a better future. But the future is uncertain; until humanity can discover the secrets of shield tech and brave the storms that divide them, they will never be truly free. ------- This is a collection of short stories that take place within Solace, a fictional science-fantasy setting I have been working on since January 2025. This is not the mainline story, but may involve side plots, alternate perspectives of story events, etc. Basically this is my way of getting back into writing on Wattpad and having a catch-all for any short stories related to Solace. This will be updated as I go, and I'd love to hear feedback! [This cover is a placeholder and I don't take credit for the art. It was taken from a copyright-free source]

Everyone was evacuated from the home planet over 150 years ago. Our planet was dying, it was only a matter of time before our race was wiped out. We now live on a synthetic planet designed and built by our ancestors who came together from all parts of the globe to devise a plan to save us. We have lived peacefully for over a century.. Until now. Our lives were threatened when a mysterious and deadly virus broke out, killing entire communities at a time. The council says that they have a plan; they said that in order to prevent the death of more innocent people they will test every man, woman, and child for signs of the virus. Any person found to have been infected will be quarantined, the ones who die will be given a proper burial while the ones who survive are deemed carriers and are to be sent to the home planet to prevent further outbreak. I was prepared for the people I know and some I love being taken away for the greater good, but I never would have expected that among the list of people being taken from my community, that I would be one of them.. I survived the quarantine. Now for the survival of my planet I, and the other Carriers must be sent to the home planet. I'm going back to Earth. (This is not based on The 100 but there are similarities.) (Some violent themes, but other than that is entirely clean.) Please comment if you have any questions or concerns. This is a first draft so it is definitely not perfect yet.. Thank you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Where'd you learn to do that?" I asked about the intricate knots that he had tied so swiftly. He paused. "Jail." I glared at him in shock at what had just come out of his mouth. "Seriously?" His straight face broke into a grin. "No. Boy Scouts."
Chasing the Ember:Echoes of the Void by theyluv_jh0n

--- CHASING THE EMBER: ECHOES OF THE VOID In the end, it wasn't strength that saved them. It was the refusal to break. --- WORLDVIEW SUMMARY The Setting: A Dying Earth and the Last Ark Earth is uninhabitable. Scarred by war, disease, and climate collapse, the planet no longer supports life. The Emberwake Ark is humanity's final escape: a city-sized spacecraft holding 65,000 of Earth's last survivors, adrift in the void. No weapons. No military. Just thinkers, engineers, broken families, scavengers, and those who paid, tricked, or clawed their way aboard. Supplies are critically low. Food, oxygen, water, and mental stability are all degrading. No one's unscarred - some physically, others emotionally - except one man who's held together by a very thin, but unbroken, thread. --- The Universe: Cosmic Terror Meets Myth-Made-Flesh Space is not silent. It is alive with ancient, unknowable forces. Humanity begins to discover that myths weren't stories. They were warnings. Earth's ancient pantheons-Greek, Norse, Aztec, Egyptian, Chinese, Japanese-are distorted reflections of real cosmic beings. Entities that live between stars. These include: Jörmungandr - A space-leviathan that coils around dead stars. Apep's Spawn - Shadow-born creatures that eat dreams and time. Fenrir-class Entities - Beasts that hunt on instinct and collapse reality around them. Watchers - Beings that only observe. Their gaze erases people from memory and time. The Sun-Eater - An endless void that mimics stars and consumes anything seeking warmth. Quetzacryon - A radiant, godlike being that gives paradise... before incinerating all who submit to it. These aren't gods. They are forces. Intelligent, instinctive, and indifferent. Time loops, parallel realities, psychological traps, shifting laws of physics - the universe itself resists comprehension. ---
The Apocalypse by Crtmca29

The ice deep in the north has melted to reveal a new world hidden under the ice. It holds vegetation and animals that seem unworldly when compared to ours, but hidden in the deepest part of this world is another cave with the oldest surviving strains of an ancient bacteria capable of taking host of dead creatures and reanimating them into beasts worse than before. This strain had grown weak over the ages and was nearly extinct, but the human immune system, never being exposed to this, caused the strain to thrive inside its new unexpecting host and spreads out to the world. It starts small, just a speck on the hands of a few people, but soon, it spreads to door handles, pens, books, chairs, things like that. It continues spreading and now has infected its first corpse, the remains of an ant. This new creature comes and spreads to that ant's nest and then to the animals that eat them. Before less than a month passed, the virus had spread to a graveyard in the hidden grottos of the Yukon. This virus, now able to think from the new minds of fresh bodies, can strategize. In only another week, the epidemic had spread to the northern edge of the United States. Spreading further and further in, people began to notice this strange happening. From people disappearing to entire towns popping out of existence, the bacteria continued to spread. To keep order, the governments had those who disappeared erased from existence, but it wasn't enough. The takeover of those long gone happened in less than three weeks and society collapsed. Spreading overseas, it began its removal of life in Europe, but that's a story for another day. We now come to those few remaining settlements in the collapsed U.S, now called The Crumbled Land. What does this new land hold hidden deep in the remnants of its former glory?

Power grids fell, cities emptied, and survivors now live in scattered settlements or wander the ruins. **Evelyn "Eve" Carter (29)** Former EMT from Denver, 5'7", athletic, green-eyed, scar on her left cheek. Compassionate but hardened, Eve carries deep survivor's guilt. When the outbreak hit Denver General, she fought to save patients until the hospital fell. Her younger brother, Miles (16), vanished that night. Haunted yet driven, Eve searches the Midwest believing he's still alive - a mission that keeps her from collapsing under the weight of her past. **Logan Brooks (35)** Ex-Army Staff Sergeant, 75th Ranger Regiment. 6'1", broad-shouldered, dark hair, beard, and old military tattoos. Stoic and tactical, Logan hides a broken heart - his daughter, Abigail (9), was lost when Atlanta burned. After refusing to follow orders to bomb infected zones, he deserted, vowing never to serve blind authority again. Now, he fights to protect those beside him, seeking redemption one battle at a time. **Marcus "Red" Hensley (23)** A wiry mechanic and survivalist from Tulsa with messy red hair, freckles, and a worn leather jacket. Before the fall, he ran a YouTube channel on survival hacks; after the collapse, he scavenged junkyards and lived off the land. Beneath his cocky humor lies loneliness and fear. When he met Eve in a crumbling Kansas City safe zone, they formed an uneasy alliance. Red wants to prove he's more than lucky - that he can make a difference in a dying world. Together, Eve, Logan, and Red navigate the ruins of a fallen America - bound by loss, survival, and the fragile hope that something human still endures. This is my first time ever writing anything so sorry if the ending is lacklusture :(

"We've learned from our mistakes, Altera. Enough blood has already been shed." "That didn't stop the start of World War III, did it?" "No. It didn't. But it ended it." "Human minds are just sacs of salt interacting with proteins. Even now, you live in a world of lies, where everything around you is a construct created by your mind. It betrays you. No wonder why you are all such messes." This is a monument to all of their sins. Many a time, evil was executed in the name of a greater good. While one would hope that humans would learn from the mistakes of our past, we are fickle creatures with short memories, horrible prejudices, and a habit of self-destruction. This is a testament to those who didn't have a voice. Who have a story to share, and yet never got the chance to. Highest Rank: #1 Alien 6-21-21 WARNING: This contains Xenophile (Alien / Human smut) If you don't find interest then that, this is not the place to be. Thanks! Or Skip the chapter. 18+ ______________________ The year is 3999. Nearly a thousand years after a alien infection was set loose by the intelligent lifeforms know as Irinaut. No one knows exactly how they were able to make such a infection, but it was capable of destroying nearly all life on Earth. Those who couldn't hide or make it to the ships to escape their home planet, were left for the Irinauts. These alien lifeforms were capable of controlling human bodies, infecting them with their black dust, impregnating fertile human female's, and growing the Irinaut's massive companions, the Yeti's, a less evolved version of the Irinaut. Earth is gone. Nothing more then a ball of dust. After the people fled on ships, they traveled to their new hope. It was a place of solitude. The human race was able to flee from the foreign infection, but for how long? Luna was frozen on the ship. For nearly a 200 years, their ship had traveled. Many people had been placed in a cryogenic state. That of which kept them from aging as they made their way out of the infection. For them, a place of safety, The Solar Sun. The Solar Sun space ship was the closest landing unit in the solar system. Many others would have to be traveled to after refueling and preparing for another two or three centuries of being in a cryogenic state. For Luna, the girl hopes that space would be her escape from the aliens that destroyed their Earth, but that was only the beginning. Upon arrival, the ship is found infested. Luna and a small team of scientists had come in hopes for finding a cure for the strange virus, only to find the virus had taken over most of The Solar Sun, following a few escaped Irinauts. The Solar Sun is their last hope, and their last escape from these beings, but what's to be found there will change everything.

GREED is where YOU end up

8 parts Ongoing Mature

An email, phone call, news sites, even social media. Widespread, catches the eyes of 15 people. The ad goes like this, "Opportunity is a gift, and we are gifting you. Please come to set location for a special volunteering event. Money and even fame will be gifted to you. Please click for further detail". Any sensible person would sigh, crumble it, delete the message, etc. But what about the greedy? The poor, the needy? Those are the people who would look for further detail. As the sun rose above them that day, the set location is empty. A field with each person alone. Just before they get suspicious, they feel a jab in their neck and pass out. They wake up, finally together. The vast tunnels and open caves lead them astray. The huge bunker which they are now stuck in is filled to the brim with everything they ever need, except freedom. The huge loud speakers occasionally turn on with a man's voice, that's the only thing giving them info. But they now one thing. They must kill, get away with it, and finally be let free. Only one can survive.
