When a violent storm tears through Auchenvale, the earth splits open near the old chapel ruins, unearthing a sealed iron coffin buried beneath the moor. The villagers, bound by superstition and faith, whisper that such things should remain buried but the curious and the desperate can't help but look. Soon after, people begin to vanish. Elias Macrae's mother falls ill, her body wasting away under strange fevers and whispers in her sleep words that sound like prayers turned backward. Her sickness mirrors the oldest legend of the valley: the Wraith of Auchenvale, a spirit said to feed on guilt, desire, and sin not killing its victims outright, but consuming them piece by piece until nothing remains but shame and shadow. Elias, already tormented by his own forbidden longing for Ambrose Kinnaird, sees reflections of his guilt in every omen. When the church insists the illness is divine punishment, Elias begins to doubt everything he's ever believed. Forced to work together again after months of tense silence, Elias and Ambrose set out to uncover what was disturbed beneath the ruins. As they follow the trail old letters, missing children, unholy rituals they find that the horror infecting Auchenvale seems bound to them, feeding on what they most fear to feel. The more they uncover, the more their investigation becomes an intimate unraveling. Nights stretch long with unspoken words and feverish gazes Elias watching Ambrose sleep, torn between wanting to touch him and wanting to pray the feeling away. The line between love and damnation blurs until they no longer know if they're being haunted by a spirit, or by themselves. And always, in the moors and mist beyond the village something stirs. Watching. Listening. Moving closer.

Ashvale

Ashvale is a town trapped in time, a place where the fog never fully lifts, and the air always carries the faintest scent of decay. With its abandoned streets, dilapidated homes, and a history shrouded in mystery, Ashvale seems frozen in a nightmare that no one dares to wake from. Whispers of ghostly apparitions, strange disappearances, and eerie happenings have kept visitors away for decades, leaving it forgotten by the outside world. Ella Turner, a young, ambitious journalist with a reputation for uncovering the truth, is determined to crack the mystery of Ashvale. Drawn by the promise of a story that could launch her career, she arrives with nothing but curiosity and skepticism. But as soon as she sets foot in the town, Ella feels the chilling presence of something more-something unnatural. The townspeople, few and far between, speak in hushed tones, warning her to leave before it's too late. They know the truth about Ashvale's dark past: it is cursed, haunted by restless spirits who have never found peace. The more Ella investigates, the more she uncovers a web of tragic events that have bound the souls of the dead to the land, their cries echoing in the shadows. Determined to help them find release, Ella embarks on a dangerous journey to unravel the truth behind Ashvale's curse. But the deeper she digs, the more she realizes that breaking the town's hold on the spirits might cost her more than she ever imagined. With every revelation, Ella's grip on reality begins to slip, and she must confront a terrifying question: can she free the souls of Ashvale without losing her own in the process? In Ashvale, the past never stays buried... and some stories should never be told.
