The town's surface calm is shattered by the arrival of the Hargrove family and the burgeoning dread felt by James, the kind-hearted new boy. After discovering the dark secret of his new town, James realizes his only chance of survival is to align himself with his stp-sister's strange new friends group who already know too much.

Meanwhile, Eleven is running. Her life under Chief Hopper's watch feels less like protection and more like confinement. Driven by a desperate need for context, her quest for truth leads her to two other subjects: the vengeful Kali (Eight) and the compassionate Erin (Thirteen). Eleven and Erin quickly forge a deep, powerful bond over their shared, traumatic origins.

But the dark influence of the Mind Flayer is growing, twisting the familiar into the monstrous. As the threat escalates, threatening to turn one of their friends into an enemy agent, Eleven and Erin must trade their precarious freedom for a desperate fight.

James, the unsuspecting outsider, and Erin, the forgotten subject, are pulled into the core group's fight. Their reunion marks the final countdown and the confrontation is now inevitable.
