"I told myself I wouldn't care," Nanami said quietly. "That whatever you felt for him was history, that I could handle being just-" he cut himself off. Looked away. "-a replacement, maybe. Something steady to lean on while you figured yourself out."
Gojo flinched as if his words struck him. "You're not-"
"Don't," Nanami snapped, voice breaking through his usual restraint. "Don't tell me what I am or am not to you when you can't even decide for yourself."
Gojo's voice was barely above a whisper. "You think I haven't tried to let him go?"
Nanami looked at him - really looked- and Gojo hated the pity there.
"I know you have. That's what makes it worse. You keep fighting ghosts and wondering why the living keep getting hurt."

A mission gone wrong leaves Gojo stripped of his Infinity. Vulnerable for the first time, he must confront the cracks in the image he's always upheld, inner demons, and connections he's always kept at arm's length. Ghosts of the past resurface in the form of Suguru's memory, while an unexpected connection with Nanami challenges everything he thought he knew about love, trust, and his own limits.

Nanami was running back to his apartment as fast as his legs could carry. He knew that address as soon as he heard about the distress call. It was his home after all. His wife didn't know he was a jujutsu sorcerer and he didn't want her to know either, but in that moment, he didn't care. As soon as he saw the curse hovering over her in his kitchen, his mind was engulfed with rage. Her wound was deep and she looked terrified. She'd never seen a curse that could talk. "Where is he?" The distorted voice asked her once again, "call him." It pointed at the phone in her hand. "No." She clutched her phone against her chest and her voice trembled, "he's not here... please". "Imagine how sad he'd be... if he found you dead instead." The curse laughed. "I... I don't think he'd... care." She said her last prayers as she woefully wept. It took all her strength to digest the fact the he'd never love her, "but I won't call him here." She'd made up her mind. He'd be free if she died right there. Nanami's eyes widened when he heard that. He felt his heart clench at the sight before his eyes. That Grade-B curse was like a laugh in his face. She was his wife-his responsibility.
