They gain popularity through performances and a local competition, building a strong fan base. Among their fans is Louis Tomlinson, a shy and introverted boy who faces bullying and abuse at school and at home. One day, Louis discovers a flyer announcing auditions for a new singer/pianist for One Direction. Despite his talent, he doubts he can audition due to his shyness and fear of his abusive stepfather's reaction. On the day of auditions, he attends not to try out but to see Harry.
