Journal prompt: What would you do if you can rewind time? If you can replace the damage that's been done to you from the past?
If I could rewind time, I would do many things different. Was I devastated to the point where I lost myself? Yes. Was it hard to get out of the bed most days? Yes. I loved too hard, I cared too much. I made so many mistakes which hurt me and hurt the others around me. I was blind. I was deaf. The most hurt of all, I was always right, and I never seen how wrong I was.
My name is Emerald, my skin is rich chocolate that glows under the sun. I proudly wear my Afro. I am loud, kind and ambitious. I am proud and unapologetically black, but have I always been this way? No. However, I am proud of the lessons I learned and little girl me will be proud.
