Laplace's Demons

As the sunset tints everything red, Niragi's breaths stop and his eyes become glassy.

Chishiya lets his eyes close now, feeling his own breathing slow down. Won't be long, now.

He gets pulled into the darkness, knowing neither of them believed in an afterlife.

Chishiya doesn't expect to wake up after, but that's exactly what he finds himself doing.

He's at a circular table that looks set up for something like a tea party, a teapot, cups and a bouquet of roses on it. There are three chairs. The one to his right is empty, but across from him sits a shadowed figure, a joker card in front of them on the table.
