Summary:
After the war, Draco Malfoy's name was dragged through the mud, but one person refused to let him drown in it - Harry Potter. When Harry defended Draco at his trial, freeing him from Azkaban and giving him a second chance, Draco did what he thought was best - he left Britain, escaping the whispers, the pity, and the ghosts of a life he never truly lived.
Four years later, he returns - no longer the sneering boy from Hogwarts, but a brilliant Healer from France, quietly dedicated to mending what others have broken. But St. Mungo's is not kind to ghosts of the past, and neither are the people who still see the Mark on his arm instead of the man beneath it.
What Draco doesn't realize is that his quiet courage has not gone unnoticed. Harry, now a respected Auror and just as reckless with his heart as he ever was, has been keeping an eye on him - not out of guilt, but because the man Draco has become is someone Harry can't stop thinking about.
When a case at the Ministry forces the Auror and the Healer to work together, old wounds resurface, and new emotions begin to bloom. Healer Potter gets a new patient in his specialized ward at St. Mungo's. He can heal injuries that no one else can and it's clear from the start that this patient is broken. Injuries and abuse dating years. He knows that he can help him and he is surprised when he discovers Draco Malfoy is his patient for the next three months. Harry has to heal his injuries from an apparent suicide attempt, but soon he realizes that it's deeper than that. Draco is fresh out of Azkaban and Harry knows that the guards must have viciously tortured him, but Draco isn't talking. He's set up to stay in the Mental Health ward permanently if Harry doesn't heal him physically and mentally. At the same time, Harry isn't the righteous force of anger and courage that he once was. He quit the Aurors and suffers from extreme social anxiety, panic attacks and PTSD attacks, though it's not from war. Harry has to deal with his problems, too, but maybe not alone anymore. Trigger warning - there are discussions about sexual assaults, associated terminology and abuse. There are many panic attacks and some sleeping, eating and drinking disorders.
