The waves are restless today. They carry a song that isn't a song. Glassy, wailing... as if the world across the water were calling out to its own. I sit down on the wet stones. I take off my glasses. The fog blurs the boundaries of the world-it's finally like a dream. Perhaps more real. I reach out my hand, as if I could touch the horizon. "I wish you would all just... go away," I say to no one. To everyone. To myself. "I wish for silence." For a moment, I truly believe the ocean is listening to me. And then something appears on the shore. Not something. Someone. A very emaciated figure. Wet. Hair plastered to his face. Clothing torn, as if torn by the waves. But it wasn't the water that created him. It's a ghost. The fisherman everyone said goodbye to three winters ago. He stands before me. Empty. Dead. And yet... he watches. And when he opens his mouth, I hear no voice. Only one, a drawn-out whisper, cold as steel: "He who has no heart is coming."

"So, what's so special about your umbrella?" I asked. "It's waterproof, what else," she laughed. "No. It's just that.. you're always roaming with it. I never saw you without it. Even here it's with you." I answered, holding my breath, hoping she won't feel hurt. "Well. Just know that....thanks to this umbrella, you were able to notice me." She said as she grinned. "Sorry?" I wasn't sure I if understood. "Come with me," she said as she got up and walked out of the restaurant. I followed her. She kept on walking. I called out her name several times but she didn't turn and kept on walking ahead of me until we reached on the beach. There was not a soul found on the beach. It was completely dark. I wondered why she would bring me there. "Maybe she wants a first kiss?" I thought as I laughed at my stupidity. "Florence... Why did you bring me here?" I asked curiously. "To show you the magic of my umbrella." she said and she turned around. As she turned and faced me, she closed her umbrella and my knees started to tremble with fear. I looked everywhere and shouted: "Florence!....where are you?.... Florence!!" But she was nowhere to be seen. She had disappeared.
