"Would you like to experience flight, Astarion?" Halsin asked suddenly.
Astarion was snapped back to the present, surprised face meeting Halsin's kind eyes. The giant of an elf was standing now, shoulders squared with Astarion's. "It's not possible." Astarion said at last.
"I didn't ask if it was possible. I asked if you would like to experience it." Halsin stood before him, determined to pull an honest answer from the vampire's lips.
Astarion looked at the ground. If he'd been capable of it, embarrassment would've turned his pale face red by now. "Yes. I would." he whispered at last.

Astarion ascended just like he wanted. Tav helped just like he asked. People change just like they were warned. Fair warning: Ascended Astarion is the villain, Tav frequently disassociates and justifies Astarion's behavior to themselves and the other companions. Domestic violence is implied but not depicted out-right. Verbal abuse is kept to a minimum. Two major characters will die eventually. An alternative epilogue at Withers' party.
