Sam's first day as a dispatch intern at the City Hero Command Center should be exciting. She's finally escaped tech support hell to become the voice in a hero's ear, coordinating the city's premier superhero team through crises and chaos. What she didn't sign up for? A broken team still nursing wounds from a situation three months ago that nobody wants to discuss. A temperamental fire hero who treats everyone like a punching bag. And Robert Robertson, her intimidatingly competent trainer who also moonlights as the armored hero Mecha Man and clearly has complicated history with half the team. Robert is stoic, overworked, and annoyingly attractive. He's also her boss, which means her inconvenient crush needs to stay buried under professional boundaries and dispatch protocols. Then mysterious interference signals start disrupting hero communications across the city. Someone is testing their systems, probing for weaknesses, and the tension between Robert and reformed villain Invisigal isn't helping team coordination. As the threats escalate, Sam finds herself in deeper than expected, learning that sometimes keeping heroes connected means navigating the messy, complicated relationships between them.

At Espresso Yourself, the cozy café tucked into the ground floor of Edenview Hospital, CEO and head barista Quinn Lockhart makes it her mission to brighten every customer's morning, with extra foam, warm hazel eyes, and an easy smile that rarely falters. Except with Dr. Ava Moreno. The hospital's youngest top trauma surgeon, Ava is a picture of precision and control, always early, always distant, and never without her large Americano, extra shot, no sugar. She never lingers. Never chats. Never smiles. But every morning, without fail, she comes. And every morning, Quinn waits for her. What Quinn doesn't know is that this isn't their first time orbiting each other. Years ago, in the high-pressure haze of med school, Quinn and Ava shared something fragile, unspoken, and burning at both ends, a secret situationship that was as real as it was undefined. Late-night study sessions turned into tangled sheets and unsaid promises. But just as quickly as it flared, it vanished, forgotten entirely by Quinn after a personal crisis and a sudden career pivot that pulled her out of medicine altogether. But Ava? Ava remembers everything. Now, years later, Ava watches Quinn behind the café counter, smiling like none of it ever happened. Like she's never seen her cry. Never kissed her in the dark. Never whispered her name like it meant something. To Quinn, Ava is a mystery she's just now beginning to unravel. To Ava, Quinn is a heartbreak she never got to mourn. As the slow-burn tension between them reignites, Ava must decide whether to keep pretending or finally confront the woman who once loved her, and forgot. Because some brews are meant to be bitter. And some love stories don't start at the beginning... they start again.
