posting what I have so far so it motivates me to write more. Fixing an old fic I began when I was around 12-14. All grammatical and format errors are mine. I've tried my best to do research, but understand that I am still able to make mistakes, feel free to tell me what I've gotten wrong and what not (especially when it comes to war, mental health, etc).
INFO: Alternate Universe where Steve came out of the ice, helped with the Battle of NY, and then retired into the countryside. Bucky was born in the early 90's, joined the army right out of highschool (age 18) and lasted two and a half tours (2 ½ years - age 21) in Afghanistan before a bomb went off and took his left arm which left him to be honourably disharged.

Confused, the Winter Soldier, aka Bucky, wonders around the streets of New York. He can't go back to HYDRA, they would wipe his memory again. And he wants to remember. He want's to remember who Steve was, the man that he was ordered to kill but was also claimed to be his best friend. He somehow stumbles into a woman's apartment named Amelia, looking for medical help, and for some reason, Amelia decides to help him. As she finds out more about him, she decides to teach him how to live like a human in the 21st century and also helps him to remember his past. But disaster strikes as HYDRA finds Bucky, and when they try to find Steve they also find out that unfortunately he has been kidnapped by HYDRA too. And so their first mission begins. A lot of the information in this book regarding the au has changed as well, and while the main storyline/details are the same, a *large* amount of things, including a few major ones, have changed. . !!!
