This story is not fan fiction. Although it may reference real people, they are not used as part of the story.

What it is, is a story of a woman in the midst of massive change and rediscovery. And her friends that are going through second puberty with her as she navigates work, family, dating, and embracing her cougar era.

There will be shenanigans. There will be adventures. There will be hot guys. There will probably even be smut. Because I can't seem to help myself, apparently. There will be challenges, and there will be friendship.

I know this deviates from the usual. But if you are a Queenager, finding yourself again, you may find yourself in this story.

Year of the Chick (book 1 in the "Year of the Chick" series) by romimoondi
31 parts Complete
[NOTE: This book was written in 2010, a time of long-distance phone cards, weight-loss obsessions, and searching for a man as a solution to life's problems-what a messy time to be alive! In other words, I hope you enjoy this throwback, and while this book does end on a cliffhanger of sorts, the sequel addresses any unanswered questions (which is hopefully fair, given that book 1 is free, ya know?] An awkward family homecoming at Christmas. A humiliating public weigh-in, with two judging parents as the audience. The announcement of a deadline for arranged marriage doom. And that's just the first two chapters. In "Year of the Chick," Romi Narindra must find love before her parents find her a husband. Easy to say, less easy to live through, as this book takes you deep inside "awkward Indian living in the West." To escape her fate, Romi wades through the waters of secret-dating, where self-consciousness is at an all-time high, and experience at an all-time low. It's the sort of thing that would turn almost anyone into a man-crazy freak with romance tunnel-vision, and that's exactly what ends up happening. All the while, a lack of inspiration in her corporate job leads Romi to her love of writing, in what quickly becomes a man-quest play-by-play. From whiskey-breath scum bags to uni-brow creeps and everything in between, Romi and her wingmen come up empty time after time. And that's when she meets a fellow writer. On the Internet. So will it be arranged marriage doom, or an Internet affair that's not as creepy as "To Catch a Predator"? Time will tell in the "year of the chick," a twelve-month quest to find love. Tick-tock. --------------------------------------------- "Year of the Chick" is book one of a series, and book two is available at Amazon! LENGTH: 75,000 words or 285 pages DISCLAIMER: this book contains profanities, blunt accounts of the dating scene, and many awkward family moments. Enjoy!

Against my better judgment, I answer, "Look I told you, you have the wrong number," I say a bit too harshly. "I wish I was the girl you were looking for but I'm not." "You do, huh?" His husky voice fills my ear again and I shiver. What the hell is he going on about? "What are you talking about?" I ask confused. "That you wish you were the girl I was looking for," he says amused. I groan remembering exactly what I said and palm my face, "I said that huh?" "Uh huh!" *** Fallon Mathews is a waitress who works entirely too hard and too much. She is pretty, smart, and not shy. Alexander Grant is the owner of one of the hottest clubs around- which just so happens to be the same club that Fallon likes to go to in her free time. Oh did I also mention that he is the son of a well-known CEO? A billionaire? No!? Well, he is. He isn't a player, but he does sleep around a lot. After all, he is single. What happens after he is given the wrong number that just so happens to be, Fallon's? Love, friendship, heartache, drama, and tragedy all in one! **WARNING** There most likely will be lots of errors! Charlie's Web (A Romantic Comedy)

31 parts Complete Mature

"We met earlier, kind of," he smiled at her. "I'm Jake." "H-hi!" How had she missed him before? He was delightful. Dark blond hair, slate grey eyes . . . and oh my goodness, that smile!!! To be fair, back in the bar, all of their faces had been merging together, but now she was a bit more with it, she could see this guy was pretty much perfection. What a shame she was getting married . . . No, wait, she wasn't. But he thought she was. And yet here he was, apparently interested. Time to see how this one played out . . . ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Charlotte Tyler has a theory - when it comes to girls, all guys want what they can't have. The fact her colleague Aaron flirted with her constantly while she was in a relationship and lost interest the second she was single has in no way disproved this theory. And so her best friend Thea comes up with a way to test this further - if Charlie stages her own hen night, will she manage to hook an unsuspecting guy? Despite being technically off-the-market? It seems like a crazy idea. But the plan, surprisingly, is a resounding success, and Charlie actually meets and starts to fall for someone as a result. But with an imaginary fiance and an upcoming fictional wedding to juggle, her lies are starting to spin out of control. Is this what she really wants?
