Decim is sent into the human world to observe them and make notes of how to make the judgments back at Quindecim better. He tries to fit in with the humans as much as possible (by applying for college and even taking in human emotions) but is not here to make memories; he is here to learn.
On a trip with a few of his peers to a nightclub, Decim runs into someone that seems oddly familiar to him: the soul that once inhabited someone special to him now inhabits that person, and they just happened to meet.
