Everyone at Ashthorn High thinks Soko is all sharp eyeliner, louder-than-life hair, and trouble he refuses to explain. Everyone except Kai (and his friends). Soko avoids fights, avoids feelings, and definitely avoids the band room where Kai spends most of his afternoons. But when tension finally boils over on the school rooftop, Kai becomes the one person who refuses to let Soko shut down and vanish again. Between missed practices, messy emotions, after-school run-ins, rooftop arguments that turn too soft too fast, and a past Soko desperately tries to hide, the boys keep colliding in ways neither of them expected. And the more Soko pushes him away, the more Kai pulls him closer. Secrets hurt. Feelings are terrifying. And falling for Kai might be the one risk Soko never thought he'd take.

Ravencrown is known for its beautiful campus and excellent academics. It is also known for its homophobic environment. It sucks when you're gay like Jake, especially since he has a crush on one of the school's star students Kenji Alison. Kenji Alison is a person who is liked by everyone. Good grades, funny personality, and a handsome face. Every girl at Ravencrown wants to be with him and every boy at Ravencrown wants to be him. However, behind his seemingly perfect life, Kenji is hiding a secret from everyone. Will his secret get exposed, or will he make it through senior year safely? Together, students Jake, Kenji, Alyssa, David, Lily, and Amelia hatch a plan to put an end to the school's homophobic ways.
