He hesitated. "Too late. I already did."
Her laughter froze halfway through. Tara's jaw dropped slightly, unsure if this was a joke or insanity.
For a second, the noise of the street seemed to fade.
Then Siya recovered with a smirk. "Dude, I'm wearing a plain shirt and trousers. What exactly did you fall for? My shopping bags?"
Krish's reply came softly. "Maybe your laugh. Maybe the way you walk like you're not afraid of anyone."
