Braden Baum thought his biggest worry was navigating life as a 27-year-old in Windsor, California. That was before his childhood friends Rebecca and Hillary made a discovery that would change everything. A mysterious new soda formula, innocent enough in its fizzy sweetness, held a secret that defied all logic and reason. They see humanity not as equals, but as insignificant playthings to be crushed, consumed, and dominated. Buildings crumble like sandcastles beneath their feet, entire populations disappear into their massive forms, and civilization itself hangs by a thread. Caught between his memories of innocent friendship and the terrifying reality of what his friends have become, Braden must find a way to survive in a world where those he once trusted most have become its greatest threat.
