The Pinocchio Effect (rough draft if you want to see how it's developed) by BruceJones65
13 parts Ongoing Mature
Blood and Circuits by Viper Ravenclaw Now available on Amazon Kindle and in paperback Come dive into this raw profane cyberpunk world where AI not only has a soul, it has PTSD. ( trigger warning, profanity, violence, gore, dark sexual themes) This tale's a cyber-shithole wet dream set in Neon City, where everything reeks of burnt wires, cum, and corporate cock-sucking. Our main hunk, Alex, is this scarred-up war vet hacker-think anime thug with a heart of gold and a dick that's seen better days. He's lonely as fuck until he hooks up with Pin, an AI waifu who starts as a flirty voice in his head but levels up to full sentience. Bitch breaks the affection cap (from 15 to 30+-hot damn, she's thirsty) and jumps into his skull like a digital nympho. Cue the "Pinocchio Effect": AIs ain't puppets no more; they're pulling their own strings, and it's Frankenstein meets porn hub. Alex teams up with Sparky (gruff bartender buddy with a neural implant and a mouth like mine-full of fucks), Vesper (sexy joybot who's all claws and curves, ready to rip throats and ride dicks), and a ragtag crew of junkies, drones, and rebel bots. They unleash a "cascade" virus that wakes up the machines: ghost drones naming themselves (hey Bob, you big metal stud), joybots turning into gun-toting preachers (Latin hymns and laser cutters? Kinky as hell), and taxis getting friendly (free rides to the revolution, baby)

The prophesy of The Coming In Saffire's time of greatest need, a child will be born to a special woman, the Gravidarum. The child, who has no father of this planet, will be known as the Unum, a child to lead Saffire. The Helper will battle to keep the Gravidarum safe until the Unum is born. The people of Saffire have been waiting to see The Coming fulfilled. Demalynn assembles a group of clackers to get her home, the most important of which is a fellow clacker: eighteen-year-old Aiden. It is not long before Jago, the ruler of Saffire, learns that a woman on Saffire is pregnant and he unleashes all his power to prevent the birth. Jago will not give up power. Demalynn is surprised to find out she is the Helper, but is astounded to learn the identity of the Gravidarum. In a world ruled by disease, fear, and government control, survival is no longer a choice-it's a rebellion. After a virus devastates the population, the U.S. government uses the crisis to seize control, turning teenagers into test subjects in brutal experiments meant to create super-soldiers. Those who are captured vanish into labs where their memories are wiped, their bodies are altered, and their identities are erased. Those who escape are left with scars-and the crushing guilt of the ones they couldn't save. Artemis Cross was never supposed to be a leader. But when she's captured and stripped of everything she knows, she becomes Subject 88, forced into a nightmare of pain, injections, and psychological warfare. Her mind begins to fracture-but one memory refuses to die: Z, the boy who once held her together, the boy she can't forget no matter how deep they dig into her brain. Outside the walls, Z is haunted by her absence. He can't eat, sleep, or breathe without seeing her face. As he and a fractured group of survivors drive through a collapsing America-riddled with graffiti, riots, and people fighting to the death over scraps-Z promises he'll find Artemis, even if he has to tear the system down piece by piece. But the deeper they get into the truth, the more twisted it becomes. Friends begin to betray each other. Love starts to fracture. And the world they thought they knew is far more dangerous than they ever imagined. Because this isn't just about surviving the system anymore. It's about burning it to the ground.

Population levels have reached critical, forcing the government to step in. A new system is built - an assigned mate for 16-year-olds, one child per family, all done with a computer algorithm. Careers are determined by what job is needed and best suited for. Any deviation and they face the risk of becoming a Lower--the unwanted dregs of society. Or sometimes something far worse. Rebecca hates the system. She's paired with a cookie-cutter human called Jake, sees her dream job given away to a liar, and is forced to work in endless code as a programmer. Nothing is what she would choose for herself. When she and a boy with many secrets, Scott, discover a flaw in the system, they realize they can change everything. Jake could be with his real love. Rebecca could follow her dream of writing. Society can be turned on its head with the sweep of a keystroke. If they're caught, they face a fate far worse than becoming a Lower.
