When Triton hits his 2 billion years mark, he discovers something horrifying. Strings that bind him to others.

One blue.

Seven red.

Two pinkish-purple.

Connections he never asked for, ties he can't seem to break.

He hated them.

He tried cutting them, again and again, until his arm bled. No matter how many times he tries to cut them, they always mend and return. And he's starting to wonder if he's trapped not by gravity, but by fate itself.

Triton never wanted this.

Not Neptune's gravity.

Not the responsibility.

Not the bonds that refuse to die.

But the universe doesn't care what he wants; or The Universe Has a Sick Sense of Humor.
