He wouldn't make it.

She knew he wouldn't make it.

She knew he couldn't make it out of this.

But she couldn't imagine a world without him, a world without her best friend. A world without the only person who had ever truly understood her. A world without the only person she felt safe enough to be herself with. A world where she truly had no one else but herself that she could rely on. A world without the boy...

Without the boy she 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥.

And as she sat on Duckling's back, the dull beating sound of the dragon's wings being the only thing keeping her tethered to sanity, she realized she had to do something. She had to do something to help him. She had to 𝘵𝘳𝘺 to help him at least.

Willing her legs to support her bodyweight, she stood on the mocking mimic's back, having to use all of her focus to walk to the edge of her dragon and to not allow her knees to buckle from the instability of her footing.

And before she could fully realized the sheer insanity behind her next few steps, she closed her eyes and did the most stupid thing she could have ever thought to do.
