When the bright and kindhearted Princess Aliana summons an ancient incubus, Melisian, to escape a political marriage to King Caedric, she doesn't expect to form a lifelong friendship with the creature. Melisian, unimpressed by humans but bribed with promises of royal luxury and honeybees, reluctantly agrees to disguise himself as the princess and marry the king in her place.
But the story doesn't go the way he expects - because the king doesn't fall for him. In fact, the king hates him.
Determined to win, Melisian engages in a war of words with the distant monarch, all while exchanging secret letters and magical chats with the cluelessly supportive princess who keeps cheering him on from afar.
When the truth of the king's desires comes to light, however, Melisian begins to realize that love-real love-is far more dangerous than any spell he's ever cast.
Summary: In which a young princess accidentally summons an incubus when looking for a way out of her forced marriage and instead makes a deal with him in which he must disguise himself as her and marry the king in her place. But as the days go on and the kings heart doesn't open up to him like he thought the sly mouth incubus makes it his mission to seduce the king and maybe even catch stray feelings he thought were impossible to achieve.
