When Jiang Minghuan opened his eyes, he wasn't just in another world, he was in the opening scene of a cultivation novel.
Even worse, he'd become the kind of extra who dies before the third chapter.
In the original story, "Cannon Fodder Jiang" was a pitiful background character who shielded the protagonist from the villain Pei Jingyuan's sword, lost his cultivation, and died in despair.
But this time around, Minghuan isn't planning to go down with the script.
After discovering that his "useless" body belongs to a filthy-rich young master with a family fortune big enough to drown in gold, he makes a wise (and lazy) decision, play along with fate, survive long enough to collect his inheritance, and live a good life far away from plotlines and protagonists.
Unfortunately, fate - or rather, the villain - has other ideas.
Instead of chasing the protagonist, Pei Jingyuan suddenly changes course, grabs Minghuan by the chin, and says with a terrifying calm:
"I'll come marry you in three days. Be prepared."
Minghuan: "...Excuse me???"
---
Years later, the tables turn.
The once-feared villain is scarred, broken, and stripped of his power. But just when he returns for revenge, a mysterious voice echoes in his mind-
["Ah, tragic villain moment incoming. If only this guy hadn't tried to force a marriage, he could've had his redemption arc!"]
["Oof, he still looks good, though. Should I root for him?"]
Now the fallen villain can hear every snarky, unfiltered thought that Jiang Minghuan tries to keep to himself.
A story of one transmigrator who just wants early retirement... and one villain who's determined to make him part of his revenge, redemption, and maybe, his heart.
