Tyler is twenty-five and running on sheer panic. Fleeing an abusive relationship, he arrives in Scranton, PA, with a dying phone and a terrified sense of shame. He's never been homeless, and the brutal reality of a cold November night quickly proves that survival is a language he doesn't speak.

Jay is forty-eight, and a seasoned advocate who knows the local system down to the minute details-where to charge a phone, how to navigate the strict 30-day limits of St. Angelo's shelter, and where to find the best free meals in the city. He keeps his emotions locked away behind freeform poetry and an unflappable mentor persona.

When Jay finds the newly homeless, timid Tyler at the Community Resource Center, he sees a fragile runner who needs a guide. Thrust together by the necessity of staying warm and the unforgiving rules of the street, the older mentor and the desperate newcomer form an unlikely alliance.

As Jay teaches Tyler thes bitter geometry of survival-from the cold calculus of budgeting his 30-day shelter limit to navigating bureaucracy-they share the quiet hours and the painful truths of their traumatic pasts.

Under the harsh fluorescent lights of the shelters and the cold Pennsylvania skies, the desperate need for safety slowly begins to evolve into something deeper, warmer, and much more fragile than either man dared to hope.

A story about finding refuge, not just from the cold, but in each other.
