Anne Mayfield, an intellectual young girl dreaming of love and freedom, is thrust into a betrothal she doesn't want. But how does one refuse a king? When the King sets his sights on Anne, she pleads for help, but to deaf ears. When she does not find it in her family, she turns to the one closest to the King. Charlie Manden, a young, influential duke, finds himself in a dangerous position when he offers his aid to the young Lady Anne. Though realizing the risk it may cost him, he chooses to protect her, refusing to allow such a free-willed and spirited voice to be silenced. Now they must face the wrath of the King, starting a war neither is sure they can win. But neither will yield in.

Forbidden love. Something seen as wrong to so many people, but also craved by many due to the thrill. However, in this story, this type of love is seen as something that could save many lives, and restore the peace between two kingdoms. A man and a woman, enemies since birth, have fallen in love. The woman, a princess of light, has fallen for a prince that dwells in the darkness of the night. Sun and Moon, Fire and Ice, two complete opposites that were never meant to be, have come together. Yet, the brink of war is on the horizon. With the two kingdoms constantly in strife due to the other, these two lovers may have to surrender their love, and fight each other to the death for the sake of their own kingdoms.
