He cornered me before I could lie again.

"A spy?" Ace murmured, stepping closer, silver hair falling into his eyes. "That's what he made you?"

My pulse stuttered. "Ace... I didn't want- "

"Then don't."

His fingers brushed my jaw, gentle where his reputation wasn't.

"Don't look scared of me, Lee. I'm the only one who'd take a bullet before I ever let them touch you."

I swallowed. "You're dangerous."

He smirked, slow and devastating.
"Then why do you keep running into the fire?"

Silence.

Close enough to feel the heat of him. Close enough to destroy everything I came here for.
