When Ava is expelled from the portal, she returns changed-emotionally muted, unnervingly calm, and consumed by a single thought: find Beatrice. But the world she steps into is not the one she left. Beatrice is no longer a nun, no longer with the Order, and has built a quiet civilian life under a new name. Ava interprets this not as healing... but as abandonment.
As she searches for Beatrice, Ava uncovers fragments of her new life, including the people she trusted, cared for, and briefly loved. Each revelation fractures Ava further. Anyone connected to Beatrice becomes an obstacle, and Ava removes obstacles with chilling precision.
Whispers of disappearances follow her across cities.
Beatrice begins to sense a presence in her life-someone watching, someone getting closer. When they finally reunite, it is not the soft miracle she once imagined. Ava stands before her changed, dangerous, and devoted in a way that feels like both salvation and threat.
Ava did not come back entirely human.
But she came back for her.
Now Beatrice must face the truth: the girl she loved crossed an impossible threshold to return-
and she will let nothing, and no one, stand between them again.
