Henry shouldn't exist. As a Maldrian, half human and half nhadar, the people in charge of magic in the world see him as a leech and a problem. Everyone else is afraid because rumors say every maldrian is dangerous and should be killed on sight.
So as long as he keeps his powers hidden, and sticks to the rules and follows the pack and the prime that leads it, he should be fine. Right?
If only the past would stay there. It can't be changed. The past has been, but the future is his daughter. And she has his blood running through her veins.
What will happen to her if they discover who he is? His only wish in life is for her to grow up without fearing when the ax will come.

Vincent

Growing up Vincent has always needed to take care of his mother. Learned to read her emotions in order to keep her in line while navigating politics and a life he feels too weak to actually protect.
Secrets happens behind closed doors that can never be true. It's only a fantasy. A small break that is something just for himself. But he knows it can't be forever.
But it isn't long before Vincent will go through the ritual. One that will finally make him strong enough to potentially protect his mother, should the people who control magic believe there's more to her than meets the eye. Not that he thinks there are, but the word "magic" summons the wrong people, and can get you killed.
Vincent might ignore some things that are in front of his eyes, but when he finally becomes a Shadow Walker his life changes forever. And new secrets comes to light.
