Deep in the heart of Mississippi's forgotten bayous, something ancient has awakened.

When a fishing boat is found torn apart in the Blackwater Delta, Sheriff Colt Whitford believes it's just another rogue alligator. But when a massive tooth-longer than a man's thumb and older than recorded history-is pulled from the wreckage, Whitford is forced to confront the impossible.

Called in to investigate, paleobiologist Dr. Elise Fornier recognizes the truth immediately: the tooth belongs to Deinosuchus, a prehistoric crocodilian that vanished sixty-five million years ago.

But this one never died.

Something has driven the colossal predator out of the deep river channels and into the bayou's shallow waterways. As the attacks escalate-vanished deer herds, overturned barges, and entire docks dragged beneath the water-Whitford and Fornier uncover a terrifying pattern:

The creature is moving... upriver. And fast.

A chemical spill has poisoned its territory. Now wounded, enraged, and starving, the river devil is stalking its way toward the nearby towns-where the dark waters run inches from backyards.

With a storm closing in and the Mississippi surging, Whitford must fight to uncover the truth behind the creature's reawakening before the entire region becomes its new hunting ground.
