Irene Keys was born to create art, not wield a weapon. But on her twenty-second birthday, the Circlet Crown which chooses your Calling, chooses her to be a Warrior, something she never could have possibly imagined. She is then thrown into the Twin Academy of War, where she must pass trials that test her, bond a mythical creature, and learn to use a mysterious power, all the while trying to prove she belongs.
When a group of rebels rise, wanting to destroy the Callings and overthrow the kingdom, Irene finds herself at the front of war, something she never asked for, unable to choose a side.
