When "Letter"- angers a witch he is unmade: his life splinters into bodies that rise whenever a fallen letter slips from a book into a woman's lap. Each body of his wear a mask stamped with a different letter of the alphabet. He is compelled to answer whatever a woman writes in the letter that arrives to her- when he arrives stray, secret thoughts his bodies can read; a passing fantasy-"it'd be hot if he stabbed me"-can become a literal wish and flip a gentle B into a lethal X in a single breath. The letters change like moods, desires are fulfilled whether tender or monstrous, and every enactment drains the original body a little more; perhaps there is a woman who may discover his curse though there is no cure known and no tidy closure in sight-just desires, consequences, and an unending collection of events.
