Embers of the crown

Zain vale has blood thirsty rebels at his gates, demanding for his head.
With his soldiers losing ground, the city was finally falling apart.
Through the smoke rising over his walls, he sees-
not the red of rebellion
but the burning colour of it's flames.

"My eyes were stuck on those flickering flames-that burn not red-no, it glows with the fierce brilliance of a saffron sunset, rich with hues of glowing topaz and ending in cool amethyst tips.
It's rhythm so familiar yet so different, leaving a bittersweet taste in my mouth."

Sparking memories of the past he buried long ago with his humanity,
Zain flees the conflict and disappears without a trace by following the call he never let himself answer.
The story falls back into the past that forever haunts him.
