Once a year, a small, hidden seaside village has a baby that belongs to the sea. Everyone knows baby must be left on the shore, but no one knows how they know that. Everyone in the town has tried to see where the babies go, but as soon as everyone looks away, if only for a second, the baby disappears.
No one mourns the loss of a baby that was given to the sea. It's normal, and a sort of honor for the townsfolk. It's rare people even question what happens to the baby. Most of the time, there's better questions to ask.
