Stan and Antoinette Berteaux, two American teenagers recently settled in Belgium, expected to spend quiet holidays with their uncle and aunt in an old farmhouse. But beneath the fields of the Tournaisis lies a forgotten legend: Grigne-Dints, a nightmarish creature born from an ancestral spell.
One night, Antoinette, rebellious and angry at parental authority, runs away before being violently dragged down from the surface. To find her, Stan more introverted, fearful and timid must descend and face a terrifying underground world, inhabited by titanic worms, living scarecrows, putrid cocoons and damned souls born from the Pit of Malevolent Torments. At the heart of this living realm, they discover the horrifying truth: Grigne-Dints is none other than the tortured spirit of their ancestor, who vanished in 1572 during the massacre of Saint Bartholomew.
To survive, the orphans, crushed by grief, must confront their fears and dig deep within themselves to endure and decipher the secrets of a cursed bloodline... and decide whether they should free or destroy what remains of humanity within the monster before he reaches the surface to annihilate the country. Time is running out.
