Kaelen, captain of an elite TWZ Academy unit, was sent to the past to prevent a future where monsters would return fifty years after his time.

He never reached the past.

Instead, Kaelen and his team were thrown one hundred years into the future, scattered across the same timeline, cut off from each other, and stranded in a world that insists the threat they were trained to stop never existed. And TWZ Academy had vanished a century earlier.

With his slates destroyed , Kaelen is forced to survive alone-until he meets Riven.

Riven was impossible to read. Worse, he stirs something Kaelen has never been allowed to feel. Conditioned since childhood with ERV-a drug used to suppress emotion -Kaelen has lived without attachment, desire, or longing. But proximity to Riven accelerates the drug's failure. Every touch lingers too long. Every look destabilizes him. What begins as irritation sharpens into fixation, and then into something more.

As Kaelen uses his abilities to observe the past ,he begins to uncover secrets.And the closer Kaelen gets to the truth, the more his bond with Riven threatens to undo him.

When Kaelen finally reunites with part of his scattered team, command returns-and so does discipline.

His watcher and second-in-command, Sunkiller, orders him to sever all emotional ties. Riven, she insists, is a distraction. A liability. Proof that ERV is no longer functioning. She demands Kaelen resume injections immediately.

Some of the team agrees. Emotion has always been the enemy.

Others do not.

Tensions heightens when one of Kaelen's teammates becomes drawn to Riven as well.

Forced to choose between duty and desire, suppression and truth, Kaelen finds himself trapped between two impossible futures: the one TWZ trained him to protect, and the one Riven makes him want to live.

Because if Kaelen injects ERV again, he will lose Riven.

And if he doesn't, he may lose himself.
