Everyone remembers that duel (stinger against needle) the battle where Lace, defeated, fled the scene, knowing it would not be their last. But what if something changed? What if, instead of escaping, Lace found herself at the mercy of Hornet's sting? What if, in an act of pity, Hornet let her live?

In this alternate universe, Lace does not walk away. Fascinated and obstinate, she decides to follow Hornet, trailing behind her with taunts and provocations, forcing the spider to accept a companionship she never sought.
