The world didn't end with a bang. It ended with sirens, screams, and shadows moving where no one should be. Eleven-year-old Seán McKinley and nine-year-old Athena Greene thought they knew life in their cramped Upstate New York apartments. They were wrong. When the streets erupt with chaos and the dead start walking, the two neighbors and classmates must survive on instinct - and each other. Barricaded in their apartments, they watch the city crumble from the fire escape, scavenging what they can, checking every bite, every scratch. But it's not just the dead they have to fear. A masked child drags the skin of the monsters he's killed. A cult whispers, "The living fall, so the dead may rise." And every adult outside could be the next threat. Survival isn't a game. Every choice is life or death. The rules are simple: Go for the head. Avoid cities. Trust no one. And whatever you do... don't go to the mall. Eleven and nine. Two kids. One crumbling world. No room for mistakes.

She came looking for a story. The story was looking for her. In the mountains of Pakistan lies Barzakhpur - a village that phases in and out of existence. A place where the fog lingers too long and the dead don't leave. Taniksha Shah rents an old haveli for creative solitude. Instead, she finds Aslan Ijaz - silent, severe, and far too watchful for a mere caretaker. He tells her not to leave after dark. He doesn't tell her he's chained himself to a bed every night to keep something inside him from reaching her. Because the entity wearing his bones has started to hate the way he looks at her. And in Barzakhpur, love is a weakness the dead do not forgive.
