Becky is a young soldier on reserve at Fort Benning. Freen is the no-nonsense Mayor of Storybrooke, balancing town politics with raising her son, Henry.
Through a pen pal program meant to ease the homesickness of deployed soldiers, a single letter from Storybrooke finds its way into Becky's hands - and one reply turns into dozens. Over months and then years, their correspondence shifts from polite gratitude to shared secrets, bad days, inside jokes, and a quiet, growing tenderness neither of them planned on.
Becky learns to sleep easier with Freen's letters under her pillow. Freen finds herself checking the mail more often than she'd ever admit.
And then, one day, the letters stop coming.
