Kairo never meant to lash out at his sister Kiva or push his best friend Azryll away, but after a fight leaves him alone at the circus at midnight a glowing mirror calls to him and stepping inside changes everything.

Every time he sleeps he finds himself back in the circus, standing before the mirror, and a trapped soul stares at him until he sets it free. One by one he guides them into the light, never realizing that each act weakens a shadowy ex-performer who has hoarded souls for power. Now that Kairo has crossed Shadeclaw, the magical tattoos crawling across his skin shift with a hungry, violent life, making it clear the man will stop at nothing-even if it means killing him.
