Girl in the Dirt

Cornelia Wilburns, after drowning with her younger sister Gisele, wakes up in the world of the second-rate romance-fantasy novel, "The Lady of a Rose Petal and the Nettle Prince". She wakes up alongside her sister not as the heroine or a love interest, but as a severely impoverished side-character, Antonina Nikolayenko, the common half-sister of the villainess Anastasia Eucharis Nikolayenko. Worse yet, Antonina soon realizes that her own little sister now inhabits the body of the bitter and unloved villainess, fated for a miserable end.

Determined not to let her little sister die again, Antonina vows to stay by Gisele's side to change the plot for the better despite knowing very little of the narrative. As the main story begins and the major characters take their places, Antonina, with the help of an uncanny celestial being and essential characters beginning to break free of the novel's influence, gains more knowledge of the story. Yet as the novel plays out, the question remains-- can a minor character truly change the plot? Or does the will of the author rule supreme?
