Camilla survived the destruction of her home, but survival has a way of changing a person. Now hunted by the Emperor's living writs and haunted by the thing that inhabitants the blade at her side, she is dragged deeper into a world of ancient gates, starving forests, and old powers that refuse to stay buried.

In the hidden refuge, whispers of war spread like rot through the dark. The Children stir beneath the trees. The dead walk wearing borrowed flesh. Storms gather over kingdoms already breaking apart. And within Camilla, something wild is learning to claw its way free.

To survive, she will have to become more than what the world made her.

Even if it leaves nothing human behind.
