Kaelen Veyra spent twenty-two years training in isolation on Dantooine, discovered too late to be raised as a proper Jedi. Now summoned to the Coruscant Temple, she must prove she can follow the Code while surrounded by other Jedi for the first time.
Anakin Skywalker is the Chosen One, the Hero With No Fear, a legendary general suffocating under rules that demand he suppress everything human about himself. Assigned to train the Temple's newest arrival, he expects another obedient soldier. Instead, he finds someone whose presence in the Force burns as turbulent as his own.
They're supposed to maintain perfect detachment. They're supposed to ignore the way the Force hums between them during sparring sessions, the way their eyes meet across crowded rooms, the way every accidental touch lingers too long.
But some attachments don't ask permission. And in a Temple full of watchful eyes, while war rages across the galaxy, two Jedi discover that the hardest battle is the one against each other.
The Code is absolute. Breaking it could cost them everything.
