Maddie Chanel Morin is just an ordinary girl-or so she believes.

Haunted by regret, she drifts through life carrying the weight of a tragedy she can never forget. When her best friend, died in a childhood accident, Maddie blamed no one but herself. Since then, guilt has become her shadow, shaping the way she sees the world-and herself.

Now in her second year of high school, Maddie tries to live quietly, unnoticed, enduring the cold stares and unspoken judgments of those around her. She has long accepted that she deserves this loneliness.

But one ordinary morning, everything changes.
