he found my eyes

I daydream more than I should.
Not because my life is bad - well not so bad as others imagine.
its just because my mind is louder, and busier than the world around me.

Most people don't notice when I drift off.
Most people assume I'm just quiet.

But not him.

The man behind the counter of the coffee shop I go to every day.
The one who sees the exact moment my eyes stop focusing on reality.
The one who watches me like he's trying to figure out where I go when my mind wanders.

I thought he was just another stranger.
Until the day he finally spoke:

"You're somewhere else again."

And then -
the question I wasn't ready for:

"Your mind moves faster than your body, doesn't it?"

I didn't know how to answer.
Not because I'm confused...
but because no one's ever looked at me closely enough to ask.

Now he keeps appearing in the corners of my routine -
quiet, steady, curious.

And for the first time,
I wonder what would happen
if someone found me
before I even understand myself.

He found my eyes..
long before I realized they were wandering.
