Academy of Dark

Severa Sarnius was born into a secluded village, destined to be an opal miner in the dry, arid, land of the Devil's Hills and will eventually die of Dust Lung, as so many before her. She no longer fights her duty, but welcomes it. She must mine opals to feed her family, just as her mother and all the generations that came before her mother. That is, until a mysterious and powerful magic is awakened inside of her. In the aftermath, she learns that her mother is dead and the village has traded her with mysterious outsiders for fear that she is uncontrollable.
