Living in a country divided into sixteen poor districts and ruled by two omnipotent Government Sides, everyone learns one thing: obey and live. So, when the government announces their latest rendition of the Maze Trials-a high-tech obstacle course manipulated by their elite-no one feels safe.

Candice "Candy" Rivers is a resourceful and ambitious child of the Transportation District destined to go unnoticed. But when her older sister goes missing under vague circumstances, Candice enters a world full of secrets the government never wants anyone to know. However, when she gets drafted into the Maze unexpectedly, it looks like the Trials are not just tests of masculinity but integrated systems used to control, suppress, and erase.

Inside the Maze, Candice fights off complex puzzles, alliances that are not always straightforward, and broken pieces of her memory about her sister at the least opportune moments. This is the intention: to break the contestants. But Candice will not move in the direction the government would have her go. Thus, with help from other fighters of the fragmented districts, she begins to pick up clues that the Maze is not the greatest strength of the government.it's their greatest weakness.

The deeper she goes, the more confused she gets about what she wants to be: just another pawn in the Maze's game or the first flame to unravel everything.
