Specialist Nikephorous "Niko" Angelos is the Navy's most lethal secret weapon: an ancient vampire serving aboard a nuclear submarine. He is charming, efficient, and usually under control-until the ship's blood supply is found tainted.

With the hunger gnawing at his sanity, the Captain offers the crew a simple choice to keep the predator at bay: volunteer a small donation of blood, or risk him going feral.

The crew voted "No." Every single one of them.

Now, the alarms are blaring, the emergency lights are painting the walls red, and the heavy steel hatches are locking one by one. Niko has broken loose, stripped of his humanity and driven by an insatiable need to feed.

Trapped in a steel tube with a monster who can hear their racing hearts through the walls, the crew is about to realize the cost of their decision. As Niko stalks the narrow corridors, counting down the eighteen heartbeats remaining on board, the Captain must prepare to do the unthinkable: destroy the only person who truly understood her, before the silence of the ocean claims them all.
