Steven Meeks, who prided himself on being a scholar, had not had much female interaction throughout his seventeen years on the planet, aside from his mother - but she didn't count. So when he watches Knox fall for Chris from the sidelines with his jeering friends, he can't help but feel a pang of sadness, in tandem with an old memory flickering at the back of his brain on nights when his thoughts are too loud.

In his Senior Year at Welton Academy, as the leaves on the trees begin to match the color of Steven's hair and a new decade looms, his numerical brain suddenly finds a new love. An escape. He learns to dream again, even if dreaming can have drastic consequences. And maybe, just maybe, the universe reconnects him with an old friend whom he never realized was so special.
