When Yesterday Calls

Taehyung had long left the past behind-cold nights with a rifle in hand, assignments that left stains on his very being.

Now, all that Taehyung does is spend his days living peacefully in a little town, waking up to the sound of Jungkook's laughter and the soft brush of their baby's tiny fingers against his sweater.

But peace is a fragile thing.

His phone buzzes in his pocket. A name he hadn't seen for years. His chest closes up. The past never really lets go, huh?

Jungkook looks up from where he's sitting, bundled up in blankets. "Is everything okay?"

Taehyung breathes out a sigh and shoves the phone deep inside his coat pocket. He pulls him closer.

"Yeah," he murmurs as he presses a kiss to the top of Jungkook's forehead. "I am right where I need to be."
