Glenn Hayworth is a ruthless workaholic who values status and money above all and has never truly developed fatherly instincts. After assuming his 18 year old son James ruined college, he forces him to work at his company, threatening to send him to boarding school if he refuses. No one at the company is allowed to know that James is Mr. Hayworth's son, since hiring relatives goes against the strict rules he self created.
To keep him busy, James is assigned to train the new intern, even though he barely knows what he's doing himself, setting him up for failure.
The intern, 20 year old Noah, is messy, outspoken, and completely unlike what anyone would expect from an employee, yet mr. Hayworth seems to adore him. James is irritated and jealous, confused why his father criticizes him constantly but never Noah. He is also secretly envious of how unapologetically queer Noah is, while James is still deep in denial about his own identity.
Meanwhile, Noah desperately needs this paid internship while caring for his mother, who has early-onset Alzheimer's. Noah's has been fired from multiple jobs because juggling school, work, and caregiving proved impossible. Everything changes when Noah's mother, in a rare moment of clarity, reveals a shocking truth about his past.
